Hiking Trails to View Grand Teton Fall Foliage

Fall in the Tetons
Every autumn, the lush canopy of green leaves transforms our valley into a sea of yellow, orange, and crimson. The crisp mountain air accompanied by the sounds of elk bugling is what makes fall in Jackson Hole so unique. One of our favorite ways to witness fall here is a scenic hike in Grand Teton National Park. Grand Teton fall foliage attracts travelers from around the world to experience and photograph the jaw-dropping autumn scenery. Luckily, our cabins at Fireside Resort are located less than 10 minutes from Grand Teton National Park. Our cabins are the perfect place to light a campfire and recharge after a day of hiking. There is a certain magic in witnessing the reflection of vibrant colors and mountain views in calm waters that you have to experience for yourself when you visit Jackson Hole this fall.

Oxbow Bend

One of the most popular trails in Grand Teton National Park to view fall foliage is Oxbow Bend. Colorful Aspen trees line the shores of Snake River, which is backdropped by an incredible view of Mt. Moran. The reflection of the scene on the river is truly picturesque, and you may even be lucky enough to see a moose stopping for a drink at the river. This trail is a popular spot for photographers and tourists in the fall, so hike Oxbow Bend early in the day to beat the crowds.

Schwabacher's Landing

Another incredible spot to see fall foliage on Snake River is at Schwabacher's Landing. Take in the reflection of the Grand Tetons on the water and the yellow Cottonwood leaves from this vantage point. There is a four-mile path along Snake River you can hike here to absorb all the beauty of fall in Wyoming.

Aspen Ridge Trail

To get to this trail loop, we recommend taking Moose Wilson Road, which is a favorite scenic stretch for viewing fall foliage until you reach the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve. Over five miles of hiking trails loop through Hawthorns, Cottonwoods, and boulder fields. Pass through scenic Aspen groves as you descend to the picturesque Phelps Lake. Aspen Ridge is an excellent hike if you are looking for a quiet less-traveled trail.
